I have over thirty years of experience in regulatory and other finance specialisms in the telecoms and energy sectors. I am a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (FCA).
I ensure that reporting and modelling are proactively considered as integral to any price control, so that regulatory financial reporting and information gathering develops with the underlying regulatory changes.
I have an in-depth understanding of the economic and financial techniques used for regulatory decisions, and their practical implementation. These include Current Cost Accounting, Capital Maintenance concepts, Long Run Incremental Costs, Regulatory Asset Base, Weighted Average Cost of Capital, Fully Allocated Costs, Transfer Charges, top down and bottom up modelling.
My experience in commercial roles, on financial reporting, management accounting, bid support and in financial operations, allows me to ensure regulatory reporting is integrated with, and builds upon the core finance needs and capabilities of the regulated business.
I have introduced modern planning and project management techniques to regulatory finance development, ensuring appropriate resource allocation, timetables, stakeholder engagement and early identification of key risks and issues.
I have worked with legal and regulatory teams to develop arguments and supply relevant material for court and out-of-court disputes, including preparing submissions to the Competition Appeals Tribunal and Competition and Markets Authority.
I have experience in the international environment, having worked with regulatory and finance teams in Ireland, the Netherlands, Spain, France, Italy, Belgium, Malaysia and Singapore.
My experience in telecoms is complemented by experience in projects in gas transportation and payments systems and a strong knowledge of requirements and developments in other sectors (post, water, energy and transport).
In 2023, I gained an MSc Economics with distinction from Birkbeck, University of London. My studies included elective modules in industrial economics and corporate finance.
From 2011 to 2019, I led a team of around 20 finance experts supporting BT and Openreach.
